Description

Why choose between rafting and hydrospeed? The rafting and hydrospeed combo in Savoie lets you experience both, on a single 24 km route. You start off as a crew in the raft, then finish the descent solo, lying on your float board.

The activity takes place in Savoie, about 2 hours from Lyon. You make your own way there, then shuttles take over on site for the transfers to the start and back.

On the programme: 16 km of rafting, coached by our instructors, with even the chance to take the helm and become “captain of the ship”. Then it’s time for hydrospeed, the white-water equivalent of bodyboarding, to play with every wave all the way to the finish.

The combo is open to anyone aged 14 and over. You need to be able to swim and be in good physical shape, as hydrospeed is powered by your fins. All the necessary equipment is provided, and qualified instructors supervise you throughout the day.

Available in summer, from €119, it’s the ideal outing with friends for thrill-seekers, and a perfect gift idea for anyone who loves white water.

Good to know

The combo requires good physical fitness, especially for the hydrospeed section, where you’re propelled by your fins. Being able to swim is compulsory. Bring a swimsuit and a beach towel; all other equipment is provided.

How the activity works

1

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Welcome, equipment and briefing

When you arrive, the team hands you all the equipment you need. A shuttle then takes you to the start, where the instructor goes through the safety guidelines and paddling technique.
2

🚣 16 km by raft

The whole crew climbs aboard for the first part of the descent. After a few coached sections, you can try your hand at steering and guide the raft through the rapids.
3

🐬 Carrying on by hydrospeed

Time to switch rides: over to the float board and fins! You swim the final stretch of the route, right at water level, surfing the waves of the Isère.
4

🥳 Finish and return

After about 3 hours on the water, you reach the finish, tired but delighted. The shuttle then takes you back to base.

FAQ

Where does the rafting and hydrospeed combo take place?

In Savoie, on the Isère, about 2 hours from Lyon. You make your own way there, and shuttles handle the transfers on site.

When can you do the combo?

In summer, with two possible departure times: 8:45 am or 1:45 pm. The activity depends on the river’s flow and the weather.

How long does the combo last?

Allow 5 hours in total, including about 3 hours on the water. The rest of the time covers getting equipped, the shuttles and the briefing.

How is the descent divided up?

The route is 24 km long. The first 16 kilometres are done by raft, as a crew, and the rest of the descent by hydrospeed, solo.

How old do you need to be?

The combo is open to anyone aged 14 and over, provided they can swim.

Do you need to be sporty to do the combo?

Good physical fitness is required, especially for the hydrospeed. Getting the hang of the float board is quick, but you need to kick with your fins to move forward and play with the current.

Why choose the combo rather than a single activity?

To discover two ways of experiencing white water in a single outing: the team spirit of rafting, then the freedom of hydrospeed. A full, varied and intense day.

How much does the rafting and hydrospeed combo cost?

From €119. All the necessary equipment and supervision by qualified instructors are included.

How do I book the combo?

You can purchase online, but the date cannot be booked on the website. Contact Tanguy on 04 78 79 28 13 or at lyon@takamaka.fr. If conditions prevent the activity from going ahead, your gift voucher is automatically carried over, free of charge.

Can I give the rafting and hydrospeed combo as a gift?

Yes, in the form of a gift voucher valid for 1 year, sent immediately by email (or by post for €2). If the activity cannot take place for reasons beyond the recipient’s control, the voucher is renewed free of charge.
