Description

With dragon boating in Lyon, get ready for a team experience where every paddle stroke counts. Aboard a long boat inspired by an ancient tradition, your team must find its rhythm, synchronise its movements and work together to move forward. It’s an original water-based activity that takes you out of your usual environment and brings everyone together for a shared challenge!

The concept is simple: paddle to the beat of the drum and trust your teammates. A steersperson guides the boat, while a drummer sets the pace for the paddlers. Success here doesn’t depend on any one individual, but on the coordination of the entire crew. Communication, mutual support and team spirit naturally take centre stage.

Good to know

A dragon boat accommodates ten paddlers seated in two rows of five, along with a steersperson who guides the boat and sets the pace. Life jackets and paddles are provided, and the activity is supervised by qualified instructors holding state-recognised certifications.

How the activity works

1

📍 Welcome of participants

The qualified instructors welcome your group and explain how the activity will unfold. They go over the safety instructions and the basic techniques needed to paddle together. Each participant is provided with the necessary equipment before boarding, with the team members carefully distributed across the boat.
2

🥁 Paddling & Team Challenge

Once the crew is settled in, it’s time to hit the water! The paddlers coordinate their movements to the beat of the drum, while the steersperson guides the boat. This first phase allows everyone to find a shared rhythm and build confidence in the group dynamic. A competitive phase then adds an extra challenge, putting teamwork, communication and synchronisation to the test.
3

🌿 Back on Dry Land & Debriefing

After all the effort, it’s time to unwind! Participants come together for a relaxed debrief to reflect on their experience out on the water. It’s the perfect opportunity to look back on the highlights of the activity, share their experiences and discuss the key lessons learned from this team challenge.
